Open-Meteo, RainViewer and CARTO all grant free use for
non-commercial purposes only. Open-Meteo defines
commercial as any site with subscriptions or
advertising; CARTO requires an Enterprise licence for commercial use, and
RainViewer asks you to contact them. Adding ads to this page would require paid
plans or different sources.
PRIVACY
No accounts, no analytics, no cookies. Your saved locations and any API key live in
this browser's localStorage and are never transmitted anywhere except to the
provider they belong to. Coordinates you look up are sent to the data providers
above as part of normal API requests.
AUTO uses your local National Weather Service office for the 24-hour
forecast when you are in the US, and falls back to Open-Meteo everywhere
else. NWS numbers are adjusted by a forecaster, so rain chances in
particular can differ sharply from raw model output. If the NWS feed
fails the card says so and Open-Meteo is used instead.
Shades the spread of a 31-member GFS ensemble behind the temperature
line. A narrow band means the models agree; a wide one means they do not.
Costs one extra request per refresh.
A screen-wide rain effect that fades in and speeds up with real
precipitation at your saved location — not at whatever the map
is currently showing. Off by default.
